It’s much-needed lore that ramps Book II up in the second half. But Polyarc starts to incorporate more original aspects which explain the Reader’s purpose. Players might not be surprised at Book II’s use of forest friends, knights and taking animals throughout its story. In true fantasy fashion, Quill navigates forests, dungeons and smaller-scale versions of Dungeons. This unfortunately keeps Moss Book II grounded with familiar elements. But it’s important to see the first and second games as a full package. Players are thrown back in without much of a recap. Polyarc picks up Book II just seconds after the original for good measure. Without too many spoilers, Quill’s far from done since the first Moss. As she faces obstacles, Readers juggle between traditional third person action and literally reaching in to help. Except players are “Readers” imbued with godlike powers to aid Quill. The writing is on the wall for a plain old fairy tale. A young mouse named Quill embarks on a quest to save her kingdom from dark forces. Moss’ setup simply asks players to grab a chair and use their VR controllers like a DualShock.īy nature, players are overlooking a third-person fantasy game. For four hours, a familiar first-person exercise was gone. Moss somehow evolutionized VR games by going against the status quo. Stories turned towards players who could escape to a library’s worth of simulations. First person experiences were reinvented with a new level of interaction. The technology already made an impression as an active platform which got players moving. Even if players might crave more out of a VR story that quits while it’s ahead.Ģ018’s Moss came at a welcome time for VR. Polyarc crafts a game as long as it’s worth. New intricately designed levels elevate an already-engaging fantasy adventure. But a good sequel like Book II maximizes Quill’s journey with bigger challenges. That feeling of a swashbuckling action puzzler is still preserved. Players who enjoyed the original 2018 game will get more of what they love from an interactive fairy tale. It proves VR still has plenty of new barriers to break. All of which are easily avoidable.Moss Book II doesn’t just serve as a worthy sequel four years in the making. Its attacks during this stage are to fire projectiles and also attack with its arms. Stage three, attack the Keeper with Quills attacks until defeated. Repeat this process until the Keeper joins you on the ground. Stage two, the Keeper will now move to the side platforms that the Scorchers were just firing from and we should use the same method of firing the rippers through the holes whilst Quill is stood on the left/right switch. Then as the Reader controls the Ripper and use the right stick to fire them through the hole killing the Scorcher. When this happens use the switches left if the Scorcher is on the left and right if the enemy is on the right. eventually Scorcher enemies will start also shooting you from the platforms to the side of the keeper. Stage one, defeat the smaller enemies, while avoiding the Keeper’s projectiles. The keeper is the first boss you will encounter at the end of the Conservatory. There are several combat-related and a couple of miscellaneous trophies, thankfully they are all for performing a single action once and they are all easy to perform so there is no grinding or much skill needed. The three main trophies to work on alongside the story and collectibles are “With Friends Like These” for completing Sahima’s section without dying, “It’s like bubble wrap.” for breaking objects with the reader and “Lawnmower Mouse” for cutting grass with Quill. Additionally there are three Relic Shrines to enter where you will find the armour. Both Relic dust and Forgotten Fragments can be collected on multiple playthroughs or by using the chapter select. The other collectible are the Forgotten Fragments there are a total of 48, 8 are found in each realm. Relic Dust is found by destroying any boxes, barrels and pots you come across. Additionally there are two types of collectables you need to grab while playing through the story. The majority of the trophies are story related and will unlock as you progress through the game, therefore your main aim is to complete the story.
